Early Spring Blooming Perennials for Full Sun

Are you ready for Spring?

At Landscape Supply of Utah, we are excited for the spring season and we are ready to start planting!

Here are some beautiful perennials that we love for Utah and that we stock in our nursery:

Creeping Phlox - Phlox subulata

This evergreen perennial with needle-like foliage gets covered in a carpet of pink, purple, white, or periwinkle blooms during early to mid-spring.

  • Grows quickly and works well in rock gardens, slopes, or used as a groundcover. Looks lovely draped over a rock wall.
  • Very low maintenance, drought tolerant, and resistant to deer.
  • Grows 3-6” tall and spreads up to 24” wide.

Lewisia Bitteroot - Lewisia cotyledon

Lewisia Bitteroot is a versatile plant that can be used in containers, rock gardens, and park strips.

  • Grows quickly and works well in rock gardens, slopes, or used as a groundcover. Looks lovely draped over a rock wall.
  • Very low maintenance, drought tolerant, and resistant to deer.
  • Grows 3-6” tall and spreads up to 24” wide.

Candytuft - Iberis sempervirens

Candytuft is another great groundcover with compact emerald foliage that is perfect for rock walls or used as a border plant.

  • Has plentiful white, pink, or purple blooms depending on variety.
  • Somewhat drought tolerant once established.
  • Does not spread as vigorously as Creeping Phlox – this plant keeps a neat appearance and is easy to maintain.
  • Grow up to 12” tall and 24” wide.
